This is probably me stating the obvious, when I say nothing works out the box. Here’s a good example.
My Dad has ordered a Samsung BDC5300 BluRay player, fair enough. I’m the one setting the damn thing up.
Open the box up, what do I notice. There is no HD cable of any description in the box. It’s stupid to go buy a HD player, with an HD TV, but get given a SD RCA cable. Lovely. I look forward to downscaled SD content. Thankfully QVC provided a HDMI cable, saving about £20. Either stupidity or annoying money grabbing prevented some sort of HD cable going into the damn box.
Now the next bit, setting up. Not much to go wrong. One end into TV, the other into the player. Power up and done.
Then the setting up (software side). You have the option to connect via wired or wireless. Wireless is good, select that… ‘Please insert Wireless LAN Adaptor’. You’re kidding. I need to fork out £xx and wait yy days for that?! I can do it cheaper. Damn ripoff.
It’s now working on-screen. Good. However one crucial flaw. The disk tray doesn’t open.
That’s kinda made the unit pretty redundant and useless. So now it’s going to be have to be sent back. Just to add insult to injury, I remove the HDMI cable, and the bluray player breaks the cable. Observe
Useful, I think not. QVC will not get away with this
