Thanks for CoreDuo for finding it (he’s using it for his blog). It’s a nice and simple theme which isn’t OMGAWD WEB2.0 nor so simple it was boring. The last theme was alright, but I prefer this one a lot.

Fairly customisable as well.

This domain went down beginning of April, and only noticed at the end of April that it had perished. Took a lot of strangling of the person who owned it, namesco (previous owners) to assign it back to his account and then transfer to me, then renew, but it got there in the end.

Then he finds out he got a message saying it was due for renewal, he just ignored the letter and moved on. That letter arrived on March 1st.

Smart.

This is probably me stating the obvious, when I say nothing works out the box. Here’s a good example.

My Dad has ordered a Samsung BDC5300 BluRay player, fair enough. I’m the one setting the damn thing up.

Open the box up, what do I notice. There is no HD cable of any description in the box. It’s stupid to go buy a HD player, with an HD TV, but get given a SD RCA cable. Lovely. I look forward to downscaled SD content. Thankfully QVC provided a HDMI cable, saving about £20. Either stupidity or annoying money grabbing prevented some sort of HD cable going into the damn box.

Now the next bit, setting up. Not much to go wrong. One end into TV, the other into the player. Power up and done.
Then the setting up (software side). You have the option to connect via wired or wireless. Wireless is good, select that… ‘Please insert Wireless LAN Adaptor’. You’re kidding. I need to fork out £xx and wait yy days for that?! I can do it cheaper. Damn ripoff.

It’s now working on-screen. Good. However one crucial flaw. The disk tray doesn’t open.

Damaged HDMI Cable

That’s kinda made the unit pretty redundant and useless. So now it’s going to be have to be sent back. Just to add insult to injury, I remove the HDMI cable, and the bluray player breaks the cable. Observe

Useful, I think not. QVC will not get away with this
